Alone

by Natalia K, Vancouver, Canada, Age 19

Alone beside an open window
You look at the city's cold lights
The pouring rain is your true sorrow
You feel the weight of lonely nights

You see cold sky, and heavy rain
You feel darkness, with no regret
Again comes the forgotten pain
You remember nights, you should forget

Like shadows, you see days fly by
Dark thoughts come dancing in
They fill your mind, you quietly sigh
You want to break the dance and scream

Forbidden pity in your broken soul
Your desire to fly and fear of landing
You yell into darkness, your scream unheard
You want to end it all, your body aching

Alone beside an open window
You look at the city's cold lights
The pouring rain is your true sorrow
You feel the weight of lonely nights
