5 Perks Of Being Single

It’s hard living in a world so focused on who’s dating who. There are couples everywhere you go;  in restaurants, malls and on the street, Hollywood couples showcased on magazine covers and really annoying Facebook notifications that let you know when your friends are in a new relationship  It’s easy to get sucked into the “I need a man” way of thinking but you don’t! This article is dedicated to all of my independent ladies out there. Being single is awesome and here are 5 reasons why.

1. You can make all of your own decisions

You’re on your own boss. You are free to do whatever you like, whenever you want too. You want Chinese food for dinner? Done. You want to sleep in the middle of your bed? Done. You want to see a romantic chick flick this week? Done!

2. You have more time to hang out with your friends

For some reason people in relationships feel the need to be with their significant other at all times, leaving best friends behind.  You isolate yourself from the rest of the world because you only count on your partner. Now, you have time to catch up on some late gossip, shopping and partying.

3. You have time to discover yourself

You can’t be in a healthy long-term relationship if you don’t know yourself first. What are your interests, aspirations and plans for the future? Once you have that figured out, it’ll be easier for you to talk about what you want in a relationship with your love interest. Sure, you can learn and grow in a relationship, but doing so by yourself has a lot more longevity in terms of independent happiness. You have the time to work on a better version of you, while gaining the ability to embrace your flaws and simply move past them.

4. You can play the field

This is your opportunity to date around and learn more about your needs in a relationship and your ultimate deal breakers. Jumping into a seriously relationship early on in your life could stop you from meeting some really great people. You still have a lot of time to find “the one”, so spend your 20’s enjoying the dating scene without the pressures that accompany long term commitments. Focus on working hard, staying healthy and remember that the more confident and successful you feel, the more options you have to select from for your future partner.

5. You can focus on your career

The single life guarantees you more time to yourself. You can spend your spare time pursuing new job opportunities instead of playing mind games with your boyfriend. You can focus on higher exceptions and starting new initiatives. This is your chance to transform your job into your boyfriend and invest your time and energy on something that will guarantee you ultimate success.
