On Tuesday, November 1, 2011, Elizabeth Grant Skincare invited media, tastemakers, kindred spirits, and those who just like to party to The Big Give in support of The Look Good Feel Better Foundation.
The blowout charitable event lived up to its name with performances by gravity-defying aerialists, circus performers and burlesque dancers. Attendees were treated to everything from live performance art by local artist Jessica Gorlicky to the musical stylings of The Little Black Dress and DJ Bangs and Blush. The evening was hosted by103.9 PROUD FM’s Mike Chalut.
With enough visual candy to please even the most easily-bored event veterans, The Big Give was about more than just hordes of hors d’oeuvres and loaded loot bags. The Look Good Feel Better Foundation is truly a worthy one, dedicated to improving the self-image of women and men who are stricken by the effects of cancer and it’s treatment.
At the heart of Look Good Feel Better is a free workshop in which women whose appearance has been affected by cancer and cancer treatment learn how to look and feel a little more like themselves again. Guided by experts, they master simple cosmetic techniques, explore hair alternatives, and learn about cosmetic hygiene, nail and skin care. It’s amazing how looking good improves someone’s ability to stay positive through treatment.
Notable attendees included the cast of MTV’s 1 Girl 5 Gays (lesbian edition), Dani Matte, Daniel Erem, and Anna Von Frances, Ainsley Kerr.
