Issue 08: Editor’s Letter (and Your Feedback)

So, what are you up to this summer?

For most of us, summer is the time for parties, movies, fun, working, more fun, hangin’ out and having more fun. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

But for thousands of others it’s just another season to deal with abuse, starvation, homelessness or depression. I don’t mean to put a damper on your having fun but real life still happens in summer.

Even if it’s just for an hour – give of your time!

You may not feel an hour can make a difference but if every Canadian, between 13 and 19 years old, volunteered just one hour of their summer we would have over 3 million hours of good vibes spread across our country!

What can you do in an hour? Serve lunch at a shelter. Read a story to a child that is blind. Help clean up our parks. Do a 10K walk for cancer, or aids, or leukemia or…, well, you get the picture.

This summer, Faze will give of our time. Please join us wherever you are. Pick a day, write it down on a large piece of paper and stick it to your bedroom wall! Get some friends involved and make it part of an unforgettable summer!

However, be ready because this will also be the day that you become a bigger and better part of the human race!

Be sure to email me (editor@faze.ca) and let me know how it went!

Enjoy your summer, keep safe and. . .

Good Reading!

Letters To The Editor

Thanks for the message in your Letter from the Editor (Spring 2002), especially the part that says, “We must build tolerance through understanding.” I have a friend that’s been trying to hide the fact that she’s part Middle Eastern because of everything that’s happening. I really can’t blame her because of the way people might treat her. Hopefully more people will read your message and be more tolerant so she can be herself.
–Jasmine, 17, Toronto, ON

OMG! I never believed people rally ate dogs (Global Issues, Spring 2002)! I’m  horrified! I think this should be a major article in your mag, not just a news blurb. BTW, great mag! Thanks for filling us in on stuff that’s going on around the world.
–Anna, 15, Nova Scotia

Great piece on street luging (Spring 2002)! I love all extreme sports and appreciated the website address where I could get more info. Amazing photos too. Thanks.
–Karyn, Calgary

I thought your Spring Issue was awesome because who doesn’t love Shakira? She’s a great singer, and a wicked performer, she also brings Arabic and Latin beats to a new level! And plus reading Faze magazine really passes time in math class! Thank you for putting the Latin rock star on your cover and for being a wicked teen magazine!
–Brittany, 16, Ontario

I just wanted to say how wonderful your magazine is! There are few good Canadian teen magazines, and by good I mean not filled with how you “should” look. I crossed paths with Faze thanks to my aunt and now I can’t put it down! You’ve created a truly great magazine!
–Aubrey, cyberspace

Ed The Sock is great! He is right on with his comments. I look forward to checking him out every issue.
