Our favourite superheroes, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) have tracked Loki’s scepter to a HYDRA base in Sokovia. There they find two new super-humans, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, who have a personal vendetta against Tony Stark. Wanda has the ability to mess with people’s minds and alter reality, while Pietro is super-fast.
The team successfully retrieves the scepter and takes it back to Tony Stark’s home base. There Tony and Bruce analyze the scepter and find out that there is artificial intelligence within the gem. Tony uses the AI to complete his “Ultron” global defense program, and everything goes downhill from there.
Ultron comes to life and believes that he must wipe out humanity to save Earth, and thus eliminates J.A.R.V.I.S (Just A Rather Very Intelligent System)which is Tony’s super-computer. Ultron escapes from the scepter, and with his newly formed body he recruits the Maximoff twins to help him build an army of robot drones.
The next time The Avengers run into Wanda, she gives them all hallucinations, which causescauses the team great distress – especially to the Hulk. Their biggest fears are brought to the forefront. Hulk fears losing control and hurting innocent people. The Black Widow is taken back to her childhood where she was trained to be an assassin. These are just some of the hallucinations they experience; I don’t want to give everything away.
The team reassembles and plans an attack with the help of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). Meanwhile, Ultron is having the perfect body created for him. Now that he is no longer an android, Wanda is able to read his mind. She sees that he was planning to destroy the human race, so the Maximoff twins turned on Ultron and helped Black Widow, Captain America and Hawkeye retrieve the synthetically-created perfect body.
Tony Stark secretly uploads J.A.R.V.I.S., who is still operational after hiding inside Ultron on the internet, into the synthetic body. Thor activates the body with lightning and explains that the gem on its forehead is one of the six Infinity Stones, the most powerful objects in existence that he was in one of his visions.
Taking “Vision” as its name, the robot and the Maximoffs join The Avengers as they head back to Sokovia. There they find that Ultron had used the vibranium to upgrade himself and build a machine to lift a large part of the city skyward, intending to crash it into the ground to cause global extinction.
The team knows that this battle could be their last. Will The Avengers successfully destroy Ultron? Who will make it out alive?
The Rundown:
Action: The common superhero movie has really cool fighting scenes. But when you put together six superheroes you get six times the action in 3D! It’s really cool to watch Captain America and Thor fight together as partners.
Comedy: Watching the other superheroes try to pick up Thor’s Mjolnir (hammer) is easily one of my favourite scenes in the movie. Are any of the other superheroes worthy of picking up the hammer? It is hilarious watching them try!
Love: The Hulk and Black Widow obviously have feelings for each other, but both fear that they’re not capable of love. They plan on running off together after the battle with Ultron–let’s see if that’ll happen!
Superheroes: In this movie we’re introduced to the Maximoff twins, Wanda and Pietro. Pietro later becomes Quicksilver, and Wanda becomes the Scarlet Witch. Plus we get to see a few of our favourites from past movies including The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and War Machine (Don Cheadle).
