She’s looking for a few not-so-good men.
Based on a best-selling novel by the same name, One For The Money is a mystery/romantic-comedy starring Katherine Heigl, Jason O’Mara and Debbie Reynolds.
Stephanie Plum (Katherine Heigl) is down on her luck. She was just let go from the lingerie department at Macy’s, forced to watch her car get repo’d, has a pile of bills she can’t pay…and she probably has the craziest family in the world (look out for a gun-tottin’ Debbie Reynolds).
But, one of those family members is Vinnie, who owns Vinnie’s Bail Bonds and despite the fact that she knows nothing about bounty hunting, he gives her a job (because, well, that’s what happens in movies). She starts learning the craft, on the job, while chasing after her ex-flame Joe Morelli (Jason O’Mara)–a former cop who skipped out on bail after being accused of murder.
The job is not what she expected, and before she knows it, Stephanie finds herself mixed up in the world of murder and conspiracy. She talks to witnesses who go missing, gets threatening phone calls, ends up hand-cuffed (naked!) to her shower and narrowly misses being blown up by a car bomb. But with $50,000 up for grabs to whoever brings in Joe Morelli, Ms. Plum is not about to give up without a fight.
Here’s the run down:
Action: You read the whole car-bomb thing, right? Definite action here: shoot-outs, chase scenes and one female who learns how to kick a little criminal boot-ay. And if that’s not enough, the mystery of the “who dunnit” question will keep you at the edge of your seat.
Romance: Hello? It’s a Katherine Heigl movie! Of course, there’s romance! Look for the re-ignited spark between Stephanie Plum and runaway cop Joe Morelli.
Humour: Check! The charm of the movie, apart from being a good murder mystery, is the quirky female character Stepahnie Plum, who is a most unlikely Bounty Hunter if ever there was one. With a bounty hunter/junk food addict as the main character, a few “ladies of the night” who will provide inside info for the small cost of a snack and a random old guy who is only happy when naked, one can’t help but chuckle along as the scenes play out.
