Starbucks Helps You Save Cash And Our Planet

Starbucks
Whether it’s your morning, afternoon, midday, early evening or nightcap must-have, Starbucks knows how important your done-just-right brew is to you! But Starbucks has never lost sight of how important it is to help you save your hard-earned cash and our oh-so-precious environment, as well.

Every Penny Counts

Starbucks has a long-standing commitment to recycling and sustainability going as far back as 1985. For over three decades, Starbucks has encouraged us all to bring in our own reusable mug (branded or not) and receive a 10 cent discount on any beverage we order at any time. And that offer still stands today.

Grounds For Your Garden

In 1995, Starbucks introduced Grounds for Your Garden, an initiative which offers customers complimentary 2.27-kilogram (five-pound) bags of used coffee grounds to enrich garden soil. Where commercial composting is available, many stores are able to divert other food waste and any remaining coffee grounds from the landfill as well.

Recycled Fibre And Better Plastic Cups

In 2006, they launched the industry’s first hot beverage paper cup with 10% post-consumer recycled fibre. Two years later they rolled out a new plastic cup that has less of an environmental impact than their original plastic cups, and in 2009, they hosted their first Cup Summit in Seattle, bringing together all facets of their paper and plastic cup value chain to find agreement on criteria for a comprehensive recyclable cup solution.

In-Store Mugs

And if you enjoy getting comfy and checking your socials in the store, you can request that your order is served in a mug where available. After all, Starbucks believes every paper cup saved helps keep our forests intact.
