Book Review: The Power Of Six And Q&A With Author Pittacus Lore

The Power of Six is a definite must-read.

The Power of Six

The next instalment in The Lorien Legacies (I Am Number Four did well as both a book and a movie, starring Alex Pettyfer and Dianna Agron), The Power of Six continues with the story of John (Four), Six and Sam—two aliens from the planet Lorien and their human friend.

They are now on the run from both the government (which thinks they are terrorists that blew up a whole school) and the Mogadorians (another alien race responsible for destroying the planet Lorien and are now hunting for the last survivors). They must work together to train and develop their powers further, in order to hopefully reunite with the other four remaining Loriens and fight to save Earth.

The page-turning action in this next book is even more intense than the previous one, leaving you praying for the third novel to come soon!

If you like… stories about the discovery of superpowers, like in the X-Men movies, or sci-fi alien adventures, like Douglas Adams’ classic The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, then you will love this much talked-about series.

We had a quick Q&A with the infamous “Pittacus Lore”— author of the series and Lorien Elder.

Why was it important for you to write these books?

PL: I chose to write I AM NUMBER FOUR to tell the story of my people, the Loriens, as well as to warn the people of Earth about the Mogadorian menace, which even now remains a threat to all intelligent life in the universe.

Who is the most difficult character to write about?

PL: As the Lorien Legacies are inspired by real events, I don’t consider the people portrayed in the books to be “characters.” However, I must admit that the actions of humans often stymie me. Sarah in particular, is an example of a human who I find complex and—at times—difficult to understand.

Two perspectives on love—at least from the planet Lorien—are suggested in the first two books: 1) you only have one true love for your whole life and 2) you can have many “true loves.” Which perspective would be closer to your own view?

PL: Despite my vast power and intellect, I have not always been lucky in love. This is a question for a poet or a philosopher. I am a warrior and as baffled by the mysteries of love as any other.

If someone were to ask your advice about how to get published, what would tell them?

PL: Have a story that needs to be told, and tell it the best way you know how. If you do it well, others will want to hear it.

What does success mean to you?

<p”>PL: To me, success as an author is of negligible importance when compared to the importance of succeeding in our fight against the Mogadorians. I would trade my spot on the New York Times bestseller list in an instant for an end to war and the elimination of Mogadorian aggression.
