Teenage movie buffs let their creativity shine in the
TIFF Next Wave Film Festival Set Design Challenge

by CHRISTINA DUN

The TIFF Next Wave Film Festival held its first ever set design challenge, allowing students to bring out their imagination in creating their own Hollywood DIY backlot sets. Six teams participated in the challenge--each given a different theme--and had six hours to complete the task. From a Medieval teenage bedroom, to the inside of a jail cell, these teens used everyday objects to build their sets, later to be judged by film industry pros. The judges were MTV’s Johnny Hockin, director Sean Wainsteim, actor Jacob Wysocki and Fat Kid Rules the World director Matthew Lillard.
All of the groups did an amazing job!
