Never lose sight.
Recently, I received one of those travel-around-the-world viral emails fromKarmen, someone on the team here at Faze. Of course, even though I was up to my eyeballs in work, I was suckered in and started reading. I try not to get carried away and usually refuse to forward the send-to-ten-friends-now-or-die kind of chain-mail, however, I really felt this was worth passing along:
A young girl hated herself because she was blind.
She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He loved her unconditionally and was always there for her even when she was ridiculed and shunned by others.
She told her boyfriend, “If I could only see the world, I would marry you.”
One day someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.
He asked her, “Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”
The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. She was shocked as she hadn’t expected that. The thought of having to look at his closed eyelids the rest of her life led her to refuse his offer of marriage.
Her boyfriend, broken-hearted and in tears, left her. Days later she received a note from him that said, “Take good care of your eyes, my dear, before they were yours they were mine.”
It took a second to register what I had just read, then it hit me, and of course, I got all teary-eyed. The message was loud and clear: Never lose sight of who and what is important in life. Be kind to those who truly love you–they are the ones who will stand by you and help you through your most difficult times.
Finally, chain-mail worth reading.
