Review: Canon SD30 Digital Camera

What it is: It's like any digital camera, but it's a digital camera that comes in four different colours (red, violet, gold and black). Finally, you girls have a way of matching your camera with your purse or an outfit.

What’s good about it: Canon refers to the SD30 as a "petite package" and they're right about that. This one is small, but it takes great shots at 5.0 megapixels with a 2.4x optical zoom. It's also really light, so while you won't have a problem carrying it around, just be careful not to drop it. Thankfully, Canon has colour-coded cases that you can get separately to go with the camera. And the 1.8-inch LCD screen should be good enough if you're mostly taking pics of smiling faces.

What’s NOT good about it: Unless you're being showered with the sweat of a band while standing in the front row at a concert, don't expect the 2.4x optical zoom to help you see things from a distance. The SD30 is meant for photos in a more closed environment, so shooting distant objects or people won't get you prize-winning results. Make sure you also get a good pair of batteries for this one because they could drain on you pretty quickly..

What’s the verdict: The SD30 is a pretty slick-looking camera and the different colours give you a fashion option that you just don't see with other digicams. If you really want the camera to stand out as much as you do, then the SD30 is probably a good bet for you.
