Review: Nyko PSP Charger Grip

What it is: Imagine playing your PSP as if it was a PS2 controller. It would be nice, right? Well, that's pretty much what Nyko is offering with the PSP Charger Grip.

What’s good about it: Like it's namesake suggests, the Charger Grip has its own lithium-ion battery that can extrend the life of your PSP an extra five hours. So now, instead of playing a game and having your progress ruined by a dead battery, the Charger Grip jumps that hurdle for you. Even better, the two handles on the side create more support when you're playing or holding the PSP, which should make your life easier. Oh, and the AC adapter that comes with the PSP is what you would use to charge the Charger Grip.

What’s NOT good about it: Getting the PSP into the Charger Grip is easy, but getting it out can be a pain sometimes. Just don't try to force it out or else you run the risk of breaking one of the clips that stick out. Yeah, they seem a little fragile, but as long as you're careful, you'll be fine. And finding it in Canada will be a little tough, but most EB Games locations should have it.

What’s the verdict: This is a nice unit for the PSP owner who needs more juice out of the battery. It comes at around the same cost as a PSP game would, but at least it might save you a few times from having to restart a level after your battery died on you.
