Have
you ever wanted to forget something? Perhaps it’s something
painful like a death in your family or the loss of a loved one.
You know
in your mind you will never forget, and you try to focus on remembering
the good things about your time with that person. Well imagine what
it would be like to try to forget a war or to try to find something
positive to remember.
There
are times when the veterans who fought in the war think that we
have forgotten all that they had done for us. But we will never
forget the blood shed so that we can all be free. We will never
forget how many men and woman gave their lives for us so that we
could live in happiness. While many men and woman watched their
loved ones perish for their country they will never be able to forget
the pain and suffering in their lives. Imagine loosing your parents
or your brothers and sisters. Many children lost their families
to the war. They will forever cherish the memories of their parents,
although they will never be able to forget the upheaval in their
lives. The sound of gun battle will forever ring in their ears and
their hearts will never be healed.
How could we ever forget, when pictures make it perfectly clear
what happened many years ago. There are probably not very many veterans
alive today to recant all the stories they must surely have to tell,
this is why we must never forget, and must always remember and respect
November 11, Remembrance Day.
Do you want to know why poppies are red? It’s because of the
blood that soldiers shed. It’s because of you and because
of me, why people are dead who were once living free. Now because
of all that was done for us, we can live in our great free country.
It is forever scribed in our hearts and our memories, we will always
remember.
