From behind the camera of his high school filmmaking course, Jake Manley has emerged as a handsome and talented young actor. “I was definitely very nervous at first,” Jake admits when asked about first stepping out from behind the scenes. “It took some time for it to feel comfortable, but the more I did it the more I fell in love with exploring different stories and being a part of those moments.”

Jake has since explored a diversity of stories, ranging from the romantic comedy Love, Rosie opposite of Sam Claflin, to a lead role as Bobby Crow in the horror thriller Joy Ride 3. Jake also co-starred alongside actress Laura Marano in the popular Disney Channel original movie Bad Hair Day. On September 24th Jake will be adding science fiction to his list as Brad in Heroes Reborn, the spinoff to the award-winning show Heroes.

In anticipation of the two-hour premiere of the miniseries Faze got to connect with Jake Manley to learn more about him, Heroes Reborn, and what he is looking forward to having viewers see this Fall.

How did you feel when you landed the role of Brad in Heroes Reborn? How did you prepare for the role?

Jake: I was pretty surprised. It had been a while since the audition and I had kind of put it out of my mind. I was thrilled when I found out. To prepare I started watching the original series and learning as much about that world as I could.

Do you find similarities between Brad and yourself?

Jake: I don’t think there are a lot of similarities between Brad and myself. But I can relate to being a confused teenager trying to make sense of the world and where my place is.

With the September 24th, two-hour premiere date of Heroes Reborn quickly approaching, what are you most looking forward to having viewers see?

Jake: I’m looking forward to the viewers seeing an amazing mix of the old and the new. There are some original characters are now and the introduction of so many fun new ones. It’s going to be a fun ride for everyone to start.

Apart from returning characters, what are some similarities that fans of Heroes can look forward to seeing in Heroes Reborn?

Jake: Original Heroes fans will get to pick up where they left off and explore new powers and exciting storylines. I think original fans will be pleasantly surprised!

Do you have a favourite character in the new Heroes Reborn series?

Jake: Robbie Kay’s character “Tommy”. He is the man.

What superpower do you wish you could have and why?

Jake: Teleportation would be fun. I wouldn’t mind being able to go anywhere I wanted, anytime!

What are some notable differences between the genres you have acted in? What genre is next on your list?

Jake: I think it’s just the subject matter really. I still approach the work the same. I may have a bit more questions with something that’s not as familiar like science fiction. As for what’s next I don’t really have a preference. It’s always fun to try anything new that I haven’t done before!
