Movie Review: Measuring Tape Girl

measuring-tape-girl-

Self doubt. We all feel it, in varying degrees, at some point during the year/month/week/day/minute. But we try to keep positive–maintain the game face, so to speak. But what would happen if we were honest about all of our personal fears?

Using her alter ego name of “Measuring Tape Girl,” this twenty-something young woman in the short film of the same name (written and directed by Pasquale Marco Veltri) shows us an in-depth look at all those inner thoughts.

Using the style of a vlog, she explains how before anyone else has a chance to reject her, she has already measured, pre-judged and rejected herself–beating everyone else to the punch. The film is, simultaneously, sad and funny and heart-breaking in an “oh no, that’s me–sometimes” kind of way.

After viewing it only once, self-examination seems imperative and hopefully you will walk away with, if nothing else, a new sense of self-awareness to your inner monologue. What do you say to yourself on a daily basis? Is it uplifting and positive, spurring you on to achieve your dreams? Or is it a defeated voice, already conceding the fight, letting the world tear you down?

Food for thought…
