Which platinum-selling R&B star is making fans “shiver” in the summer heat? Canada’s own Shawn Desman, of course! After a long five years since the release of his last album, Shawn is finally back with his latest record, FRESH.
“It’s really cool, it’s upbeat, it’s sexy, there’s something for everyone,” he says. “I’m excited because I’ve grown and my fans have grown also.”
Even with chart-topping singles like “Let’s Go,” “Shook,” and this year’s “Shiver” under his belt, Shawn doesn’t let his success get to his head. “When you work hard and you’re a good person, it pays off,” he tells Faze.
Working hard seems to be an understatement for the Juno award winner, who wrote and produced his album, danced his way into two movies and made an MMVA-nominated video since we last saw him five years ago. He’s also got a duet with younger brother (and fellow R&B artist) Danny Fernandes in the works, and is set to tour with the Backstreet Boys later this year.
How does he do it all? One word: passion.
“I just really love music,” he says. “Because I love it so much, it doesn’t feel like work…the most important thing is to do a job that you enjoy, and you’ll be happy.”
